First Encounters ~ Tom and Nancy first met when Tom ‘smiled’ at Nancy on findsomeone.co.nz and she smiled back… They later met in person at a work Christmas function in Gisborne on Dec6 2007.

"I never believed that dating web sites could ever work & was very hesitant in telling anyone that I was even using one. I went on a few dates that were non eventful & I knew when I met the right person we would just click & we would both know.

When the opportunity came for us to meet we both jumped at the chance, we were both very nervous but knew as long as we had been honest with each other from the beginning we would have nothing to fear.
When I first set my eyes on Tom my thoughts were “Wow, he is so freakin hot, JACKPOT” ha ha, as I already knew his personality I couldn’t believe you could have both looks & everything else I was looking for in a man!” says Nancy

Tom felt exactly the same way so he moved from Auckland to Napier to be with Nancy and within only 6 months they felt like they had been together for years.

The Proposal "I was sitting on the floor cleaning out my draws & Tom was lying on the bed reading stuff I was pulling out of the draw when I looked at him & said “Do you want to marry me?”, he spun around & looked at me shocked & said "Huh, what did you say?" so I repeated my question & he shook his head a little & replied "I thought you didn’t want to get married”, so I asked again “Well do you want to marry me or not?' at which point he said "Of course I do!" Not a very romantic proposal at all but it worked!" says Nancy with a contented grin.
